Glenda K Scott was my sister and she was sick as long as I can remember with pain so debilitating she had a hard time with common daily tasks. I remember going to the hospital to see her after yet another surgery and not knowing if she was going to live or die. This is the way my sister lived her life day to day.
Crohn’s disease can be a very aggressive and my sister had a very active case that never seemed to give her a break. My sister lived with just 1 ½ ft of her small intestine for years. She had to hook up intravenously to ensure she got the nutrition that she needed. She would always joke about eating what ever she wanted and not gaining a pound trying to make light out of the situation.
Crohn’s disease reeked havoc on my sisters body for years until her poor body just couldn’t fight anymore and at the very young age of 39 my sister lost her life to the complications of Crohn’s disease. She left behind a wonderful husband and a beautiful 13 year old daughter named Nicole.
Crohn’s disease stole my sisters life. We need to make sure that it doesn’t take anymore loved ones away from their families. So please help me in my efforts to raise awareness for this cause. For my sister and for everyone suffering with Crohn’s disease.
I myself was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease over 20 years ago. I thank God that my battle with Crohn’s disease is not the same battle I watched with my sister. But I know all too well what Crohn’s disease can do…
